What to write in a child’s book dedication
Years later, a child may forget who brought a gift. A dedication keeps that detail: your name, the occasion and a few words written just for them.
Start with something you share
Use the name or nickname you normally call the child. Add a small shared memory or a wish you would say in person. It does not need to rhyme. One specific sentence feels more personal than a long list of wishes.
From parents
Example: “For our Mila. May you always find time for one more story and courage for one more adventure. We love you! Mum and Dad.” Replace the name and the final wish with words of your own.
From grandparents
Example: “For Alex, with love from Grandma and Grandpa. This book is for evenings when we are far apart, and for all the stories we will read together.” Add a year or birthday if you want to mark the occasion.
From godparents or a family friend
Example: “For Nia. Stay curious, ask questions and find friends in every story. With love from your godparents.” If the child has a special name for you, use it as your signature.
For a birthday
Example: “Happy fifth birthday, Boris! Here’s to muddy shoes after adventures, good friends and evenings with a favourite book. From Auntie Eva and Uncle Peter.” Treat the example as a starting point, not a fixed formula.
Length and final check
The dedication field accepts up to 300 characters including spaces. Check the name, date, spelling and signature. A dedication is optional. The stories are in Bulgarian; enter the child’s name exactly as you want it printed, using Cyrillic for a Bulgarian spelling.
